TCN Teleconference – Alzheimer’s Disease and the Loss Experienced by Caregivers and Loved Ones

The Caregiver Network is hosting a teleconference on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 from 12:00-1:00 pm (EST) on Alzheimer’s Disease and the Loss Experienced by Caregivers and Loved Ones. One’s journey with a person with Alzheimer’s disease or a related disorder (ADRD) is marked by numerous losses that can span several years. As the disease progresses and triggers noticeable changes, family members and friends can experience feelings of grief as they must continuously learn to adapt to a new reality.
This teleconference discusses the different types of bereavement experienced by the caregivers and loved ones of people living with Alzheimer’s disease, as well as ways to overcome these losses.
The following topics will be discussed:
- Latent mourning;
- Examples of the losses that can be mourned by a person who is close to someone with the disease;
- Alzheimer’s disease and mourning.
