Infirmière en chef et superviseur
Head Nurses and Supervisors oversee and coordinate the activities of registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and other nursing personnel who provide patient care. They evaluate patients’ needs, ensure the delivery of required nursing care, and may themselves provide direct patient care. Head Nurses and Supervisors administer nursing unit budgets and ensure that appropriate supplies and equipment are available. They assist in the establishment of health unit policies, and ensure that nursing care is provided according to administrative procedures. Head Nurses and Supervisors also participate in the selection, evaluation, and professional development of nursing personnel. They may collaborate on research projects related to nursing, medical care, or multidisciplinary services. They work in hospitals, rehabilitation centres, residential and long-term care centres, and CLSCs.
SALARY
$35.00 to $44.00 per hour
EDUCATION AND TRAINING IN QUÉBEC
- 3-year Cégep diploma, Nursing Program and University BAC en soins infirmiers
- Nursing students must also pass the College of Nurses of Québec Professional Exam.
- The training program Nursing is offered in most regions of Québec. All colleges in the province that offer the nursing program are affiliated with a university to provide the continuum of college and university training (i.e., the DEC-BAC).
PREREQUISITES
- High School Diploma as well as specific prerequisites:
- Sec IV Science and Technology or Applied Science and Technology
- Sec IV Environmental Science and Technology or Science and the Environment
- Sec V Chemistry
- Strongly recommended: Sec IV Mathematics Technical & Scientific Option or Sec IV Mathematics Science Option
