Medical Laboratory Technicians conduct medical laboratory tests, experiments, and analyses to assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases such as leukemia, anemia, diabetes, etc. Their fields of activity can include biochemistry, microbiology, hematology, immunology, pathology and cytology. Laboratory Technicians take samples of biological products (blood, urine, etc.) and prepare them for testing and analysis, ensuring the precision of results to allow the doctor to make an accurate diagnosis. They may also set up, clean, and maintain medical laboratory equipment. They may be employed in medical laboratories at hospitals, clinics, research institutes, and universities, or in government research laboratories.
SALARY
$21.67 to $31.72 per hour

- 3-year Cégep Diploma
- Biomedical Laboratory Technology training programs are offered at Cégeps in nine regions of Quebec, including at Cégep Dawson College in English.
