Ambulancier et ambulancière, paramédic
Ambulance Attendants intervene rapidly in emergencies to evaluate and stabilize patients by administering pre-hospital emergency medical care to patients, such as oxygen therapy, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), spinal immobilization, or bandaging and splinting. They then transport patients to hospitals or other medical facilities for further treatment. Along with primary medical care and trauma care they are trained to respond to accidents, anti-social behaviours, and other situations involving infectious diseases, fear, physical danger, death, and dying. They may also provide on-site emotional support to patients and families in these situations. Ambulance Attendants are employed by hospitals, private ambulance services, fire departments, government departments and agencies, manufacturing firms, mining companies and other private sector establishments.
