Thérapeute en réadaptation physique
These therapists provide their patients with functional rehabilitation for performing physical tasks. They apply various techniques of physiotherapy according to a patient’s medical prescription, using special equipment where applicable. They also provide information that will help their clients adapt and improve their physical functioning. They record observations of patients’ responses to therapy treatments. They may also participate in clinical training. Physical Rehabilitation Therapists work primarily in hospitals, in nursing homes and long-term care, rehabilitation centres, and CLSCs.
Anyone wishing to hold the title of Physiotherapist or Physical Therapist (P.T.) must have completed a Master of Science in Physiotherapy (physical therapy) and be a member of l’Ordre professionnel de la physiothérapie du Québec (OPPQ).
Those seeking to hold the title of Physical Rehabilitation Therapist (P.R.T.) must have completed a college degree (i.e. Cégep) in physical rehabilitation techniques and be a member of OPPQ.
SALARY
$23.17 to $31.72 per hour
EDUCATION AND TRAINING IN QUÉBEC
- 3-year Cégep Diploma
- The Physiotherapy Technology training program is offered in English at Cégep Dawson College, and in French at Cégep de Ste-Foy, Cégep de l’Outaouais, Cégep de Rivière-du-Loup, and Cégep de St-Hyacinthe.
