Resources for Students

Want to find out more about the various careers in health care? The Government of Québec has sites (some in English) describing careers in health and social services:

Heading for Success.com provides youth-oriented information about general employment opportunities from high school vocational training or CEGEP technical training. Vocational or technical programs can help a person obtain an interesting, fulfilling, and well paying career. The Health Services section describes jobs, salary ranges, required training, and the region of Québec where personnel are most needed. You can search by region, or do an aptitude test to narrow down your choices.

Avenir en santé is a Santé et Services Sociaux Québec site (mostly in French; Careers now English). It uses an interactive and exploratory method where you choose from different story paths to explore health careers.

The Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec promotes various nursing professions and provides information on required education and salaries, and describes the working environments and clientele.

Inforoute FPT offers information on Vocational and Technical Training (VTT) in Québec, including program content and admission conditions. The site covers many Ministère de l’éducation et de l’Enseignement supérieur (MEES) dossiers and offers a multitude of products and services directly related to the field of education.

If you want to see just how many different health careers there really are, check out Explore Health Careers, a US-based site which describes every possible health career and its related careers or specializations within that field.
