Over 1,500 crayons, 1,800 markers, 1,700 pencils, 225 erasers and just under 200 glue sticks were included in this year’s 80 school bags delivered to four schools in the Western Quebec School Board (WQSB).
“The school bags fall under an initiative that we have been organizing to help families who need assistance providing much-needed school supplies for their child’s first day of school,” said Cary O’Brien, President of Connexions’ Board of Directors. “My wife, Susan, started this project at Pierre Elliott Trudeau Elementary School in Hull many years ago, and last year Connexions partnered with the school to assist in this amazing initiative. This year we’ve added three more schools to the count and it’s always such a joy for our family to put these school bags together!”
The other schools who have joined this back-to-school project are Dr. S.E. McDowell Elementary School (Shawville), Eardley Elementary School (Aylmer) and Buckingham Elementary.
