#WeAnswerTheCall – National Nursing Week

This week, May 10 to 16, marks National Nursing Week, brings light to the courage of nurses during the pandemic and the important role they’re playing in helping us fight COVID-19. Thank you to nurses for your tireless caring during this pandemic.

This year, the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) has selected the theme #WeAnswerTheCall, which was developed by CNA to showcase the many roles that nurses play in a patient’s health-care journey. The pandemic brought to light the courage and commitment that nurses work under every day and showed the important role that nurses play in the community.

Nursing Week has been providing nurses around the world the chance to celebrate the work they do to keep Nightingale’s work alive since 1971, when the International Council of Nurses designated May 12, Florence Nightingale’s birthday, as International Nurses Day. In 1985, in recognition of the dedication and accomplishments of the nursing profession, the Canadian minister of health proclaimed the second week of May as National Nursing Week in Canada.
