What are you up to this weekend? | Moonlight Walk at the Mackenzie King Estate

Danielle and a few friends enjoyed a moonlight walk at the Mackenzie King Estate. Located deep inside the Gatineau Park, in the Chelsea sector of the Outaouais, the 231-hectare country estate boasts beautifully restored cottages, historic ruins, lush gardens, the Mackenzie King Tearoom, as well as the popular Ghosts of the MacKenzie King Estate Walking Tour.

“The haunted walk was definitely a fun activity,” said Danielle, Connexions’ Executive Director. “Led along secluded trails, our host provided lots of history about the estate and Mackenzie King. Mackenzie King’s long and influential political career, his love of the estate and his dogs, along with his interest in the occult make him an interesting personality.”

Highlights:

?Discover the Mackenzie King Estate and learn more about the Haunted Walking Tour.

?Fun facts about Canadian Prime Minister Mackenzie King: known as Weird Willie, Mackenzie King was known to gaze into his crystal ball, commune with his dead dogs, and would often see images floating in his shaving cream.

⚕️Health benefits of haunted walks? Adrenaline and dopamine speed up the heart rate and increase your blood pressure, flooding your muscles with oxygen to prepare you for fight or flight. Of course, we understand that these Halloween scares are safe, but when we get to feel those “scary” moments, a little adrenaline can actually relax you. Other benefits? Your immunity gets a boost, you become more alert and “grounded,” and then there’s the social benefits of sharing these scares with family and friends.
