Inscription pour un médecin de famille

There are three ways to register on the Québec Government’s centralized online tool, the Québec Family Doctor Finder (GAMF):

To register, you must have a valid Québec health card and be aged 14 or older.  Because the wait can be long, you should register immediately upon arrival in Québec. Priority is given to people with the most severe health problems.

For more information about registering for a family doctor, eligibility, updating your registration, finding your own family doctor, and more, visit: Registering with a Family Doctor.

In Québec, in order to consult a specialist (dermatologist, gynecologist, urologist, orthopedic, ophthalmologist, etc.), you must be referred by a general physician.

Once you have registered on the GAMF, here are a few health care services you could use while you wait for a doctor:

  • Call 8-1-1, option #3 for the Primary Care Access Point (GAP), which helps people without a family doctor to obtain a medical consultation or a health service.  You can also access the GAP online directory 24/7 and avoid phone wait times by filling out a health needs questionnaire at Québec.ca/GuichetAccès.
  • Contact Info-Santé by dialing 811, option #1 to talk to a nurse. Find more detailed info here.  For residents with a 613 area code phone number, please call 819-966-6201 or 1-833-966-6201.
  • Contact Info-Social by dialing 811, option #2 to talk to a psychosocial worker.  Find more detailed info here.  For residents with a 613 area code phone number, please call 819-966-6201 or 1-833-966-6201.
  • You can also access certain services such as preventive or medical services or rehabilitation and reintegration services through your local CLSC
  • Remember that your Pharmacist is also your gateway to the health system
  • RVSQ : Rendez-vous santé Québec allows you to make an appointment for you or a family member.
  • Finding a Resource in Health & Social Services online directory can help you find various resources for you and your family.
