Register for a Family Doctor
Three ways to register on the Québec Government’s Québec Family Doctor Finder (GAMF):
- online, by using the Guichet d’accès à un médecin de famille / Québec Family Doctor Finder (GAMF)
- online, by using your Québec Health Booklet .
- by telephone, by contacting your region’s CLSC.

In Québec, in order to consult a specialist (dermatologist, gynecologist, urologist, orthopedic, ophthalmologist, etc.), you must be referred by a general physician.
Registered on the GAMF? Here’s what you can access while you wait for a family doctor:
- Call 8-1-1, option #3 for the Primary Care Access Point (GAP): helps people without a family doctor to obtain a medical consultation or a health service. Access the GAP online directory 24/7 and avoid phone wait times.
- Call 8-1-1, option #1 to talk to a nurse (Info-Santé). Find more detailed info here.
- Call 8-1-1, option #2 to talk to a psychosocial worker (Info-Social). Find more detailed info here.
- You can also access certain services such as preventive or medical services or rehabilitation and reintegration services through your local CLSC
- Remember that your Pharmacist is also your gateway to the health system
- Medical Appointment Scheduler (RVSQ) : Allows you to make an appointment for you or a family member.
