We had a great evening meeting with students and parents during last night’s Western Quebec School Board’s (WQSB) Â University, College and Trades Information Evening at D’Arcy McGee High School.
We spoke to students about the many careers available to them in the field of health and social services, sharing with them our print Career Tools, as well as our online Web resources.
We also gave out information about our Bursary Program. Funded by McGill, this bursary aims to reach students with English and French language skills who are pursuing full-time studies in the area of health and social services and who have demonstrated a commitment to, and involvement in, their community.  In exchange for financial support, bursary recipients must continue to demonstrate their involvement in the community and agree to pursue careers in the Outaouais for one year following graduation.
We also shared information from Éducaloi on careers in law and their online Youth Zone. We had the opportunity to speak to some of the high school and adult education teachers and guidance counselors on available teaching tools and resources provided by Éducaloi to help them talk about the law with their students. Éducaloi offers reliable, accessible legal education resources for all age groups in everyday language in order to improve access to justice in Quebec.
We also shared information about Connexions Resource Centre and handed-out a wide range of documentation on available services in the Outaouais including Info-Santé 8-1-1 (a free and confidential telephone consultation service) and the Health Passport.
