Infirmier et infirmière praticien(ne) spécialisé(e)
Nurse Practitioners collaborate with physicians to identify health problems, set priorities for care and treatment, and monitor previously diagnosed patients. They provide clinical support to nurses and other professionals and may contribute to the development of nurse training programs. Although active in many aspects of care, treatment, health education, and nursing research, Nurse Practitioners – as specialists – must receive training in one of the following: neonatology, nephrology, cardiology, or primary care. They may contribute to the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs related to their specialty, as well as educational health programs for patients, their families, or other groups of individuals. They can perform or assist in nursing research and contribute to clinical research. Nurse Practitioners work in hospitals, rehabilitation centres, residential and long-term care centres, and CLSCs.
SALARY
$28.91 to $51.54 per hour
EDUCATION AND TRAINING IN QUÉBEC
- 3-year Cégep Diploma and University
- Nurse practitioners must have a second cycle specialized training in one of the following areas: neonatology, nephrology, cardiology or primary care. To obtain the right to practice, they must also pass an examination of the College of Nurses of Québec (OIIQ).

- High School Diploma as well as specific prerequisites:
- Sec IV Science and Technology or Applied Science and Technology
- Sec IV Environmental Science and Technology or Science and the Environment
- Sec V Chemistry
- Strongly recommended: Sec IV Mathematics Technical & Scientific Option or Sec IV Mathematics Science Option
