Orthophoniste
Speech Therapists are involved in the screening, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of vocal communication disorders in speech, voice, or language. They assess the extent and severity of problems, such as lack of articulation, voice disorder, dyslexia, cognitive-language disorder, or stuttering, and identify the physiological, neurological, emotional, familial, social, or other factors that may be responsible. Speech Therapists plan and implement educational and therapeutic interventions with patients, and offer support to those around them to promote developmental progress, autonomy, and social integration. They work primarily in hospitals, rehabilitation centres, nursing homes, and long-term care facilities, as well as CLSCs. They may also work for school boards or in private practice.
