Ergothérapeute
Occupational Therapists plan and supervise activity programs for people with temporary or permanent physical disabilities, mental disorders, or emotional disorders. They promote their clients’ capacity for autonomy, and work to improve their clients’ adaptation to daily life, and development of personal capabilities, and integration into the community. Occupational Therapists analyze the physical and mental condition of their clients, assess their potential and limitations, help them set individual goals, and provide activities for improving their functional abilities and skills, such as manual or domestic work, creative expression, physical activities or sports, and educational or recreational games. Occupational Therapists also help clients adapt to their local environments, suggesting ways to more easily conduct daily activities and recommending, if necessary, the use of orthotics or prostheses. They work primarily in rehabilitation centres, hospitals, nursing and long-term care homes, and CLSCs.
