A thank you to our parents, teachers & staff and community members for attending our Mental Health Workshop on Monday, May 7th. We’d like to extend a special thank you to our facilitators, Daniel Laflèche from Tel-Aide Outaouais and Marilyn Lapierre from L’Envol S.R.T., who guided the group to better understand how they could take action to improve their mental and emotional well-being. A thank you as well to CAP Santé Outaouais and their partners for organizing this workshop and creating/translating a wide range of tools and resources on mental health. We would also like to thank Lisa Falosconi, Director of Complementary Services at the Western Quebec School Board, and Shannon Davis Lafond, Chair of the Special Education Advisory Committee, for their help in hosting this event.
Through various group activities and open discussion, participants were asked to identify a challenge they were facing and explore small actions they could take to reach their goal, accept change for better mental health, and support the well-being of both themselves and their community. The workshop highlighted the importance of setting small goals, of creating healthy boundaries for themselves and others, as well as sharing roles and taking responsibilities within our larger community. The session ended with the creation a Community Mosaic where each member of the group drew a picture of or wrote-down their goals, aspirations and future hopes to help them improve their mental health.
